The temple continues to be slow. As workers, we are allowed to go on sessions and participate more actively in other ordinances when we are on shift. We have completed more family endowments and sealings this week. I have quite a few standing/sitting positions that make for good reading opportunities when patrons are not present. This week I finished reading the Pearl of Great Price, which completes my reading of all four standard works while in the temple. I also have read the Joseph Smith History, the Joseph Smith Translation of the Book of Matthew, and the Articles of Faith. My next reading has begun with the Bible Dictionary. Do you know what all you can find in there? I am amazed. I am sure I will not remember a good portion of it but it is a good learning tool as well as a review of things I do know. Reading the scriptures in the temple adds a new dimension to my learning and retention.
Wednesday night when we came out of the temple, we were impressed with the beauty of the temple in the early evening sky and the moon showed his face at one angle.
They are holding the annual grape festival here in Nauvoo this weekend. We found a taco trailer from Texas that served up some good Mexican food. We enjoyed the meal we had of beans, rice, tamales, and gorditas. We also enjoyed good conversation with fellow temple workers as well as locals and visitors. It was a fun outing. Today the streets were packed with cars and people for the parade. Bob was excited to take a walk and check out the old cars.
We came home from church and found cars parked all up and down our street. Our apartment is on the left. The parade was just behind us on the street up ahead.
Our washing machine was on the blink so maintenance came in and replaced both the washer and the dryer with new units. Boy, am I excited. They are front loaders, are quiet, and very efficient.
The weather was in the 70's some days with very cool mornings. Sunday it made it to the 80's, which is still very nice. We had a great day at church hearing testimonies of some of the branch members. They are faithful in living the gospel and know their Heavenly Father loves them.
We ended our week with Break The Fast at the Cline's. It was a delicious meal and we all enjoyed talking and visiting. Elder & Sister Birt, Elder & Sister Cline, Elder & Sister Earl, and us. They are all six month missionaries.
Fun things were happening at home this week. Emily celebrated her birthday the same day as Jay, and then she was baptized on Saturday. She was excited to tell us all about her special day.
Adriana held her annual kid's triathlon and many of the cousins joined in the fun. The Umphress children were excited to get going! Collins, Brynlyn, and Adellae. Dakotah was too young but celebrated his first birthday the same day.
Jack Brown celebrated his birthday on Friday and then was ordained a deacon on Sunday. To add to the weekend, his family moved into their new home on Saturday.
